The Alcayet is a species of giant moth from Karadra.
With a wingspan of 90cm and weighing over a pound, the Alcayet is a moth with brownish colouring and long, feathery antennae. They appear to be slightly magical, capable of creating basic illusions to distract predators.
Larvae are sand-coloured and bear many poisonous bristles. They take several months to become a pupa, then pupate for two weeks.
These insects have similar intelligence to a dog. If a human is nearby when they hatch, they will form a bond with that human and stay loyally with them. They will assist the human if in danger and can be taught basic commands.
Some desert people use them as scouts.
